Query: How does the Karma of parents or grand parents impact kids?

You need to understand 3 things about Karma to reach the underlying truth.

1. Karma facilitates removal of dross impurities within a soul atman, the spirit within! As no soul atman could purify self of its own... it needs a medium, a body to work out its karma! Karma is that inherent ingredient of cosmic system that facilitated movement of life from one manifestation to another, body after body!

2. Karma by itself was inert. It needs to be performed by a living being. Whether we do it knowingly or unknowingly is immaterial. The essence of life laid in indulgence in karma. If we did not indulge in karma... life becomes stagnant! Even if we remained inactive... karma continued working! Every single thought positive or negative precipitates into an act of karma!

3. As per Bhagavad Gita no soul atman could affect workings of another. It is not karma but thinking of one that effected another. All members in the family affected one another! Whenever we come in contact with people around us... we get affected by their thinking! It is our own thinking that affected our karma. It was not that other human beings could forcibly change our karma. If we refuse to accept thinking of one... our karma would remain intact!

People who were negative in life loved company of people who thought negative all the time! People who were positive in life loved company of those who thought positive all the time. Karma is the account book of cosmic system. Whatever act or thought we indulged at any given moment of time... the same precipitated into an act of karma.

It has been rightly said, a human being is sum total of all his thoughts at a given moment of time!
